In a separate case, RCMP have arrested a man and woman for cocaine possession. The Nova Scotia Organized Crime Unit (NSOC) has also arrested the pair for trafficking.
In June, NSOC, assisted by the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment Street Crime Enforcement Unit and the RCMP Synthetic Drugs Unit, began an investigation into cocaine trafficking in the Halifax Regional Municipality. On October 20th, NSOC, with the assistance of the RCMP Community Action Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on Gaston Road in Dartmouth. Investigators seized cocaine, cash and other evidence consistent with drug trafficking.
A 34-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, both of Dartmouth, were arrested for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. They were released on conditions and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
Sgt. Nick Baker of NSOC said; “This investigation demonstrates the strength of NSOC’s collaborative approach to disrupting organized crime in Nova Scotia. By bringing together local, provincial, and specialized enforcement resources, we were able to identify and target individuals involved in drug trafficking, remove illicit drugs from our communities, and enhance public safety.”
